EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO KNOW.... ALL IN ONE PLACE

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, American's largest performing arts complex, offers a cornucopia of choices for the classical music lover.

The centerpiece of the complex is the Metropolitan Opera, home to America's premiere company, which stages a dozen works or more over the course of a season.

While orchestra tickets can be pricey, seats in the rafters are quite reasonably priced. In addition, the Met has an online opportunity for each performance to buy excellent orchestra seats for just $25 each. Read more about it here.

Next door, the New York Philharmonic makes its home at Avery Fisher Hall. Visiting orchestras also perform there as well as in Alice Tully Hall.

Carnegie Hall, the most famous music venue in the city, hosts a wide array of visiting performers, both on its main stage and in more intimate venues.

The Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) usually hosts at least one opera a year, along with experimental classical works. It has been the longtime concert home of Philip Glass, the reigning king of minimalism.

New York Magazine has a robust search engine for finding upcoming classical concerts.
