Like theater companies, dance companies abound in New York City.

The David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center is home to the New York City Ballet (and its famous Nutcracker), as well as sponsoring many visiting companies. Paul Taylor Dance Company takes up residence each March, with tickets starting as low as $10.

Across the plaza at Lincoln Center, American Ballet Theatre performs on the Metropolitan Opera Stage when the Met is on hiatus.

In Brooklyn, the Mark Morris Dance Group runs a studio and performance space, as well as performing regularly at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

In Chelsea, the Joyce Theater is home exclusively to dance performances by both New York and out-of-town companies. Nearby, New York Live Arts (formerly the New York Dance Theater Workshop) blends dance with other theatrical performances.

Each autumn, City Center presents "Fall for Dance" bringing together dance companies from around the world for inexpensive evening showcases. Be aware: tickets for these nights sell out very quickly.
